With a simple interface, intuitive touch-screen controls, and automatic filtering, the AquaScan TM2 makes leak detection easy for operators with varying skill levels.

Q&A

When water leaks from a pressurized pipe, acoustic leak noises are generated. Gutermann specializes in the development of highly sensitive Leak Noise Correlators that detect and localize these acoustic signals, pinpointing the exact source of the leak.

Correlators are advanced electronic devices used to pinpoint leaks in pressurized pipes, especially when the approximate leak location is unknown and the distances are relatively large. Two or more sensors are placed in contact with the pipe on either side of the suspected leak. These sensors record and wirelessly transmit the acoustic signals to a processing unit. Using mathematical algorithms, the system analyzes the noise profiles—such as the hissing sound of a leak—by correlating the signals received by both sensors and measuring the time difference it takes for the sound to travel along the pipe to each sensor, thus determining the exact leak location.

GUTERMANN is a pioneer in the development of leak-locating correlators. The AQUASCAN correlator range is renowned for its world-leading sensors, compact and ergonomic design, field durability, and advanced filtering capabilities.

Permanent (or fixed) network monitoring involves the deployment of sensors (loggers) within your water distribution network. These sensors continuously gather data on the pipe network and automatically send leak alarms to the control center for prompt action. The systems can operate as standalone units with their own radio transmission network (e.g., ZONESCAN NBIOT) or be integrated into existing infrastructure, such as large AMI networks (e.g., ZONESCAN AMI).

These loggers not only detect the presence of leaks (through leak noise logging) but also perform leak noise correlation to accurately pinpoint the location of leaks within the network
